A day later, on Wednesday evening, the representative of the tough guy Benicio Del Toro arrived at the festival. He, too, presented his films at the festival, first the cult classic Traffic and then, on Saturday, the Usual Suspects.

Before that, he greeted fans in front of Thermal and signed dozens of autographs.

The main Czech star of the 56th year was Bolek Polívka, who received the KV IFF President’s Award at the closing ceremony.

“This is such a balancing act that one looks back and looks in the rearview mirror after the carom. And you can see there what was there before what he committed,” he told Novinkám.cz.

The actor greeted the fans already on Friday, when he presented the film Forgotten Light, for which he himself received the Crystal Globe in the past, in the Great Hall of Thermal.

Foreign stars also took home prizes from the festival. Geoffrey Rush won the Crystal Globe for outstanding artistic contribution to world cinema, Benicio Del Toro also received the KV IFF President’s Award.

It won the festival audience and won the prestigious Prava Audience Award.

The next 57th Karlovy Vary IFF will take place from June 30 to July 8, 2023.
