The first filming phase has started on September 15 and will run until the beginning of October. During this time, it is planned to film episodes depicting the period from 1981-1983. When her mother (in the role of Maija Doveika) returns from Leningrad and is sent to work in a rural outpatient clinic, her daughter (in the role of Rūta Kronberga) goes with her to the countryside, faces life in a rural school and lives with her mother ‘s suffering. Indra Briķe will also be filmed in episodic roles at this stage as her mother’s mother, her mother’s stepfather will be Juris Lisners, the director of a rural school – Elīna Vāne.

This year, filming will mainly take place in Limbaži district and Riga. A great benefit for the filming group is the kind support of Limbaži municipality and residents, also the opportunity to use the trains of SJSC Latvijas Dzelzceļš and JSC Pasažieru vilciens as they were in the 80s and to transform the Riga station according to the Soviet appearance. The filming team would like to thank all the people who respond, give and lend various Soviet props and clothes. The general sponsor of the film is the Latvian brand, store-warehouse DEPO, one of the co-producers – Latvian technology and entertainment company Tet Studio.

The director of the film is Ināra Kolmane, the screenwriter is Arvis Kolmanis. An international team will take part in the filming – cameraman Rolandas Leonavičius (Lithuania), artist Algirdas Garbačiauskas (Lithuania), props Dace Rožlapa, costume designer Evija Džonsone, make-up artist Gunda Zvirbule, producers Jānis Juhņēvičs and Marta Romanova-Jēkabs Austra Casting agency, which invites all interested parties to apply for the selection of mass view participants on the agency’s website.

The previous feature film “Bille” (2018) by director Ināra Kolmane, which was shot in the Latvian Centenary of Latvian Film and is a co-production of Latvia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic, has won both audience love and various awards, including the Kristaps Lielais National Film Award for Best Feature Film .
