Denis Pashkevich says: “I feel honored and inspired to have been able to take part in this wonderful music festival, which has a revolutionary spirit – just like its artistic director and festival-bearer Andrei Osokin and his team. In this age, culture is more important than ever, just like the word ‘freedom’. These are the basic values, the postulates of faith, which the Osokin Freedom Festival perfectly projects. Thank you for the opportunity to sound and the warm professional reception! I appreciate the invitation to play the new material of the TEN KA electro-acoustic music program and I believe that it was an inspiring and interesting journey for the listener in the world of sound and vision. ”

On Friday, July 9, there was a solo concert by Katrīna Gupalo, in which songs composed by Imants Kalniņš and Katrīna herself were performed, including several premieres of brand new compositions by the singer. The evening was followed by a film and musical music concert by Katrīna Gupalo and Andrejs Osokins, which was a special and long-awaited event not only among spectators, but also among musicians, because together they are rarely seen on one stage.

On July 10, the concert performance of the actors Ģirts Krūmiņš and Andrejs Osokins, created for this festival, was premiered, which was dedicated to outstanding personalities of the 20th century in music. In the production, the poetry of Marina Tsvetaeva and Velga Krile interacted with the compositions of Alexander Scriabin, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Jānis Mediņš and other composers.

“The program of the festival was unusual and exciting – it touched and delighted my soul. I am grateful to Andrejs and Katrīna for their wonderful cooperation. In the rehearsals, we could feel that step by step we are creating something very special together. Andrejs is an outstanding and very sensitive stage partner. The venue of the festival and its close proximity to the audience and the atmosphere at and after the concerts were so really friendly that I always wanted to stay longer, ”reveals Ģirts Krūmiņš.

On the closing day of the festival, July 11, the chamber music concert “Women – Composers” by violinist Magdalena Geka and pianist Iveta Cālīte gathered fans of classical music with standing statues. The musicians performed a very diverse and suggestive program, introducing the listeners to the works of Latvian and foreign female composers, which have been little heard or appreciated so far. The concert featured music by Klara Schumane, Maija Einfelde, Ruta Paidere and Amanda Maiere.

It intertwined many world-famous Italian, Ukrainian and Latvian folk songs with original compositions by Rihards Lībietis. The special guest of the evening was composer and master of ambient music Raimonds Tiguls, who performed not only his compositions for voice and piano, but also played with the unique instrumental hang.

“For all of us, this festival was like a real music festival, where we could meet all the listeners in person and enjoy the music with all our minds, body and soul, feeling the goose skin created by the sound. I am really happy and pleased that, despite all the recent difficulties and uncertainties, we have chosen to organize this festival and invite such a large group of artists to participate in it. This time of the festival was like a creative laboratory for all of us, where great artists and ideas that know no borders met, creating wonderful collaborations and events, ”says Andrejs Osokins.
