Singer Katō releases her first full-length album called “I Feel It”. It includes ten songs, of which only the single “Night Butterfly” released in February has been publicly available so far.
Regarding the idea behind the album concept, singer Katō says: “We often get caught up in the idea – is there anything more complicated than a person? We are so conscious and unconscious at the same time. We have a lot of feelings and emotions, and we can get lost in them so much that it seems impossible to find our way back. I analyze a lot of myself and my feelings in different situations, so it is natural that this is also reflected in my work. ”
The album “I Feel It” was created in close collaboration with music producer Kaspars Ansons. Together, trying to get out of the usual frame and looking for the true sound, wanting to show who Katō is, not what someone else expects from her musically.

“Working on the album included a full arsenal of emotions. After the mini-album “What My Birds Eat”, which we released in the autumn of 2019, Katja and I came to the revelation that we need to change the musical direction, because by doing the same we will not be able to feel the fulfillment.
To achieve this, we tried to find different solutions, for example, the song “Eyes” has become a canon, which is a technique typical of early academic music. It may not be explicitly read in the listening process, but the goal was to change the perspective of creation – how we think and perceive the songwriting process.
There are compositions that include several modulation and tempo changes – we wanted to make pop music more complicated, but at the same time, easy for the listener to understand.
The compositions are also united by elements of compositions that echoed during the songs, for example, the timbre of Katō’s voice was remade in a synthetic sound – possibly at the risk of a slower process of creation, but thus making the music unique.
You can also feel this album indie features of the music genre, as a producer I return to analogous values - authentic synthesizers and live instruments, ”says producer Kaspars Ansons about the process of creating the album.
“Also in terms of lyrics, we deviated a bit from the usual themes – if the previous album was only about love and divorce, then other themes appear here, such as traveling in time or striving for the future – putting the expectations into tomorrow.-
The song “Eyes”, in my opinion, is about friendship – not fresh falling in love, but a long-term presence. “Cannibal” – not about relationships as such, but more about how the world is controlled by the gene to reproduce and the ability of this gene to make us a victim – “the hunter becomes a prey”. Whether we succeeded in everything, it should probably be assessed by the listener, ”says Katō about the meaning of the songs.
The illustration of the album, created by the artist Zane Zaķe, also reflects not only its idea, but also the singer’s and producer’s feelings about the process of creating music over the past year.
The opening of the small album “I Feel It” took place on September 16 as part of a closed event in the quarter of Tallinas Street, in the presence of the singer’s friends, colleagues and supporters.
The album “I Feel That Way” is available on all popular music streaming sites. Along with the album, a single called “I Feel It” is being announced, for which a music video will be released in October this year.
Katō presented herself in Latvian music on February 18, 2019, releasing the single “I went too far”. Within nine months, a small album “What My Birds Eat” was released, which was recognized as a stable application in Latvian pop music, which is highlighted by the nomination for the Music Record of the Year Award “Golden Microphone 2020” in the category “Debut of the Year”. Katō quickly managed to win the hearts of the listeners and the tops of the radio charts with singles such as “You Poke Me Cork”, “Go to the Wheel”, and “Night Butterfly”.
