“The subtitle of the festival is ecosystems. In my video mapping, I therefore use, for example, different cells that shape us. In today’s world, however, artificial intelligence is also very relevant, which I also included in the work, because AI is also an ecosystem in a way,” artist Filip Hodas tells Radiožurnál.

He created videomapping especially for the building of the Archbishop’s Palace on Hradčany Square. At its conclusion, the entire ecosystem collapses into a giant black hole. “If I were to use artificial intelligence, it would probably help me quite a bit and make my job easier. But so far I’ve never been satisfied enough to use it,” adds Hodas.

This year too, a number of installations react to movement around them, for example changing their appearance or making various sounds. Also this time, the festival cooperates with the multimedia group Laterna magika.

The artist Jiří Příhoda, in his projection on a huge canvas, asks if we are alone in the universe. “I’m a little skeptical, because if you look at it rationally, mathematically it works out to millions of civilizations. I’m afraid that every civilization will die out before it learns to overcome distance,” Příhoda points out.

“This year, I really like the video mapping created by the Spanish-Danish studio Desilence for the Municipal Library building on Mariánské náměstí. There is a very interesting sound created using an older analog synthesizer,” invites event curator Pavel Mrkus.

The festival offers two routes. The first is traditionally in the center of the metropolis, where you can find, for example, art called Democracy?

The installation uses colors to map 35 years since the Velvet Revolution and was created, among other things, thanks to Radiožurnál and the iROZHLAS.cz server. The second route will also take visitors to the South Gardens of Prague Castle.

“I think we can probably agree that some cultural value is encoded in that castle. It’s not old, preserved architecture, but contemporary culture can also happen here,” adds Mrkus.

For the first time, the festival includes the Signal Forum, which will present not only the authors of the installations, but also the Slovak astrobiologist Michaela Musilová, who has also collaborated with the American NASA, will speak at it.

The festival map, which can be found at each installation, will help visitors to orient themselves at the Signal Festival. on the web festival or in its application. A printed guide is also available.
