Photo Shows Teenager With Sword On Manhattan Street – NBC New York (47)

Authorities shared new photos Tuesday night of the three teens who were allegedly armed with a sword, knife and crowbar in Manhattan, police said. The suspects would have told a group of six teenagers that they wanted to “catch” them because they were Jewish, the uniformed woman added.

Authorities say they are specifically looking for the sword-wielding teen in a possible threat case and posted a photo of him holding the gun around 7:30 p.m. Saturday near West End Avenue and West 86th Street.

According to the police report, the teenage victims, who range in age from 12 to 16, kept walking despite the threat, with the three suspects following them in the direction they were heading before running off.

No injuries were reported.

New York City Councilwoman Gale Brewer, who represents the district serving the Upper West Side, condemned the “horrific anti-Semitic attack on eighth and ninth graders” in a Facebook post Sunday and said her office followed up with the New York City Police.

Calls to Brewer’s office about the case earlier this week were not immediately returned.

A woman who responded to Brewer’s Facebook post said she was the mother of one of the threatened children. She called it “disgusting that kids their own age are walking around this neighborhood with knives and crowbars pointing at Jews, making fun of them” and called for justice.

The New York City Police Department says its Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-57-PISTA.
