The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited the head positions of the mechanized brigade in Bakhmut in the Donetsk region during his working visit and presented state awards to the soldiers, Serhiy Nikiforov, the president’s press secretary, said.
“Volodymyr Zelensky paid a working visit to the Donetsk region, where he met with Ukrainian soldiers guarding the city of Bakhmut. The president visited the forward positions of the mechanized brigade, whose personnel are resisting the enemy near the city,” said Nikiforov on the social network Facebook.
While in the battle area, Zelensky thanked the Ukrainian soldiers for their masculinity, endurance and steadfastness in repelling enemy attacks. Those present commemorated the fallen heroes with a moment of silence.
The president presented state awards to soldiers.
As Nikiforov emphasized, Zelensky listened to the commander’s report on the operational situation, material and technical support and proposals for further actions.
