PHOTO: Premiere of “The Year Before the War” at the Splendid Palace Cinema

“The Year Before the War” is a historical film of 2021 from Latvia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic, the director and screenwriter of which is Dāvis Sīmanis the youngest.

The film depicts the events of 1913 and depicts one of the most mysterious Latvian personalities – the anarchist Pēteris Mālders (Pēteris Pāskājs, who also pretended to be Pēteris Piatkovs and Pēteris Šterns, real name Pēteris Pīlēns), who appeared on the world In London.

The film was nominated for eleven Great Kristaps Awards in 2021, eight of which were awarded, including “Best Actor in a Leading Feature”, “Best Actor in a Leading Role”, and “Lauris Dzelzitis” for Best Supporting Actor.
