Georg Pelečs piano music cycle has not been recorded before, but last spring Linda Leine recorded it in the double album “Seasons” or “Gadalaiki” in the sound recording studio of the “Lielais dzintars” concert hall.
In total, this cycle includes six compositions – one for each season and two dedicated to the New Year, because any year both begins and ends with a new year.
In this concert, the listeners had the opportunity to hear three – Spring, Autumn and New Year’s music.
The pianist outlined her feelings for the visitors about these three compositions: “I felt spring music on a sad note because of the war, but this music in itself touches the strings of the human soul. Autumn music that does not reveal the typical sunny golden autumn scene, but rather reveals the dark and rainy side – such poetry is found in it. One of the New Year’s pieces was also played at the concert, which has a lot of mood, such excitement, anticipation and anxiety about whether the next year will be better, or whether we will be better.”
Like little pearls, Georg Peleč’s prose of the musical seasons interweaved and complemented the five sonatas of the Italian composer Dominico Scarlatti, which, although written four centuries ago, harmoniously resonated with Peleč’s polyphony, clarity of textures, rhythmicity and poetics.
Scarlatti is one of Peleč’s favorite compositions.
At the end of the concert, New Year’s music sounded, followed by stormy applause from the audience. In gratitude for the recognition, the pianist presented another piece by Pelečs – “Farewell Saranbade”.
Later, in conversations with the audience, the pianist revealed that her interest in Peleč’s music and her desire to pass it on to the world began when she got to know this work.
