A Facebook post broke the camel’s back: Birgit Gamperl (FPÖ) resigned from her position as municipal treasurer in Bad Blumau this week, as a kind of protest against the way Mayor Andrea Kohl (ÖVP) and her party communicated. Good news in itself – namely that a successor for the local supplier had been found – was the decisive drop too many. “The entire opposition found out about it via Facebook, including me as a board member, although we were together the day before,” says Gamperl, who remains a councilor, “I’m not doing the ÖVP a favor”.
