LOIKAW, KOMPAS.TV – Photographs of the aftermath of the massacre and burning of villagers by Myanmar’s army have circulated on the country’s social media. This massacre reportedly claimed the lives of more than 30 people, including women and children.
The Myanmar military intercepted a group of vehicles near Mo So village, Kayah state and killed the passengers. The military claimed they displayed “suspicious” gestures.
The group of residents who were originally going to the evacuation post were shot by the army, Friday (12/24/2021) or the day before Christmas. Their vehicles and bodies were then burned.
Last weekend, photos of the victim’s body circulated on Myanmar’s social media. The photos show more than 30 charred bodies in three vehicles that were also charred. Citizens also reportedly condemned Myanmar’s military brutality.

According to the testimony of a villager, the group were refugees fleeing armed conflict between the military and rebels near the village of Koi Ngan, a neighbor of Mo So’s village.
The villagers are reluctant to reveal their identities because they are worried about the military. He believed that some of the victims were residents of Mo So village, not rebel militia as the junta alleged.
“The bodies were tied with ropes before being burned,” the eyewitness told Associated Press.
The military junta itself has not commented on the shooting and arson incidents. However, state media Myanmar Alin claimed the group attacked the officers before being forced to stop.
The newspaper claims the group contains new members of the insurgents who will undergo training.
