Stunning sights appear on one of the planet’s cliffs Mars. It looks like doppelgänger and is considered an ‘alien exit-entry’.
Reported Science Alert, the scene was captured in a photo taken by Mast’s camera on the Curiosity spacecraft. The photo was taken on Saturday (7/5) at a location around Mount Sharp.
But the notion that it is an ‘alien door’ needs to be scrapped. The reason is, rather than a door, experts call it nothing more than a gap formed by natural processes.
“The research team underlined how small the gap was, only 30 and 45 cm wide and 45 cm long,” said a NASA spokesperson.
“Researchers say that this is a linear fault that is common in the area,” he added.
The public was also asked not to believe too much about the alleged alien door. The reason is, last year a discovery box from a Chinese vehicle that was thought to be an alien property turned out to be just a stone.
Curiosity is known to be exploring the area of Mount Sharp which has a height of about 5 kilometers. So far Curiosity has only reached an area of the valley called Greenhaugh.
Mars itself has become the object of human research. On Tuesday (10/5), NASA’s InSight probe detected a magnitude 5 earthquake on Mars.
The quake was by far the largest ever recorded on Mars. Previously, the earthquake record was at a magnitude of 4.2.
“Since we installed our seismometers in December 2018, we have been waiting for a big earthquake. This earthquake definitely proves a new perspective on Mars,” said Bruce Banerdt, InSight’s Chief Investigator. The Verge.
