We have already reported that at about 14.02 in Riga there was a maximum phase of solar eclipse, when 31% of the diameter of the sun was obscured. The solar eclipse will end at 15.09. In other parts of Latvia, both the times and the maximum phase differ slightly. Many have managed to perpetuate this event and share what they have seen on social networks.
A profile has been shared with pictures of the solar eclipse from Jelgava on the Instagram social site breakinglv.
Users also shared their photos on Twitter on the microblogging site.
Meteorologist Martins Bergšteins and Latvian Television operator Ivans Milovs shared the photo from the beginning of the solar eclipse.
A moment of eclipse, just before the sun, a large cloud passed in front of the sun. Now a clear patch of sky is approaching and after 20 minutes also the full phase. Full quality photos around 3:30 pm! #solar eclipse pic.twitter.com/Yrmn0toely

Already postedthat the Latvian Astronomical Society (LAB) explained that there is a medium-sized eclipse today.
LAB reminded that the Sun should not be viewed with the naked eye and in any case through binoculars, binoculars or a telescope without a special filter, as this can cause permanent visual damage. An extremely dense filter material must be used for the observations. Ordinary sunglasses, CDs or floppy disks are not suitable for this purpose. The safest method is to project an image of the sun on a screen. It is especially interesting to observe the image projected by the Sun with a “gap” during the eclipse. Such images are formed through slots in the foliage of trees or, to a lesser extent, through holes in a sheet of paper.
