PHOTO: Lightning strikes the head of the world-famous Christ the Redeemer statue

The lightning strike on the head was captured in spectacular photos that garnered huge interest on social networks.

Photographer Fernandu Braga, who was lucky enough to capture such a moment on Friday night, said that he recorded about 500 shots in automatic mode during the storm, and among them there were truly unforgettable moments.

It should be noted that the statue of Christ the Redeemer has been struck by lightning more than once, and it is equipped with lightning rods. In 2014, lightning damaged the finger of the statue’s right hand.
