“In May, we launched our first fully electric SUV” Audi Q4 e-tron “in Latvia and the car has attracted considerable interest from domestic electric car enthusiasts. “Environmentally friendly car, thus reducing the ecological footprint created by road transport,” comments Ilgvars Ļubka, Audi brand manager in Latvia and Lithuania.
At 4.59 meters long, it offers passengers more space in the cabin than the compact class. The space available in the interior is comparable to that offered by a full-size SUV. The luggage compartment also offers more capacity than what is normally available in the compact class. Depending on the position of the rear seat backrests, the luggage compartment has a capacity of 520 to 1490 liters and can tow trailers weighing up to 1000 kg.
A significant additional advantage on a daily basis is the distance traveled – the “Q4 40 e-tron” can cover up to 520 kilometers (WLTP cycle) with a single battery charge. Thanks to a maximum charging power of 125 kW, in ideal conditions the car is able to charge enough power in 10 minutes to cover about 130 kilometers.
In addition to the Q4 e-tron’s sporty S line interior, there is a seat trim that contains a large amount of recycled polyester. Approximately 26 recycled 1.5 liter PET bottles were used for each seat.
With the Q4 e-tron, Audi is taking the next step in the design of its electric models. The body lines have pronounced proportions – short front overhang, large wheels and pronounced “muscles”, while its aerodynamic drag is 0.28. For the first time in the world, digital lighting options are available – the driver can choose four light designs in the MMI’s touch-sensitive control system.
A completely new steering wheel has been developed for this model with its touch-sensitive surfaces used by the driver to control the digital instrument panel. The infotainment and navigation system is controlled mainly by the MMI’s touch screen.
As an option, the Audi Q4 e-tron can be equipped with another innovation – an augmented reality head-up display. It uses information provided by individual assistant systems and displays navigation symbols in a real environment so that the driver can see them easily. This information is dynamically displayed on the windshield, where it is displayed as a virtual, floating image approximately 10 meters or more from the driver.
The drive versions of the compact electric car are able to satisfy the wishes of various customers – from suburban residents to long-distance drivers. It includes two battery variants and three drive versions. The Q4 35 e-tron compact battery has a net energy capacity of 52 kWh (55 kWh gross) and the Q4 40 e-tron battery has a capacity of 77 (82) kWh. The “Q4 35 e-tron” and “Q4 40 e-tron” are electric motors that drive the rear wheels with 125 kW (170 hp) and 150 kW (204 hp), respectively. For efficiency reasons, the front axle motor engages only when high power or better traction is required. Another important factor in energy-efficient driving is “intelligent” recuperation, which also includes navigation and topographic data.
As an option, the Audi will be equipped with a sports suspension for all versions of the Q4 e-tron, which lowers the body by 15 millimeters (standard on the S line). The offer also includes alloy wheels in sizes from 19 to 21 inches and in several designs – their mainly closed disc design also helps to improve efficiency.
The compact electric SUV rolls off the assembly line with several assistant systems as standard. These include Predictive Efficiency Assist, which supports a predictable driving style to optimize energy consumption. The additional systems available, as well as several other pieces of equipment, are divided into complete sets. These systems also include Adaptive Cruise Assist, which assists the driver at all speeds and monitors maneuvers both sideways and longitudinally. 360-degree cameras are especially useful when driving around the city or parking.
The price of “Audi Q4 e-tron” in Latvia is from 44,700 euros.
