The performance “Latgolys freska” was like a symbolic journey through Anna Rancāne, which is one of the brightest symbols of modern Latgale culture, special places in Latgale, which she likes to show to others, which are inspiring and delighting – the audience went to Rancāne’s native Rogovka, Rāzna, Piedruja, Krāslava, Daugava circles, Daugavpils and the current place of residence – Rēzekne. The concert performance featured works by Rihards Zaļupe, Jānis Ivanovs, Ingars Gusāns, Oskars Stroks, as well as Latgalian folk songs and spiritual songs, but at the end the composer Andrejs Selicks’ work with Anna Rancāne’s words “Latgol of Light” was premiered.

The idea for a play dedicated to the poet, publicist, Latgale narrator Anna Rancāne came a couple of years ago, thinking about Rancāne’s anniversary, which was celebrated last year. The Latvian Radio Choir sang under the direction of Sigvards Kļava, conductor of “Latgolys Fresco”, Biruta Ozoliņa (voice, kokle), Rihards Plešanovs (piano), Aleksandrs Maijers (stabules, organ, percussion), Ingars Gusāns or Sovvaļnīks (voice) Lipskis (bass, mandolin, saw), Jurģis Lipskis (percussion) and Pēteris Vaickovskis (trombone), but narrated by Anna Rancāne herself and the actress of the New Riga Theater Baiba Broka. The concert performance was composed by its artistic director, conductor Sigvards Kļava, director Viesturs Kairišs, artist Ieva Jurjāne, choreographer Alise Madara Bokaldere, sound director Andris Ūze and lighting artists Mārtiņš Feldmanis and Ervīns Šaicāns.

Dedication to Anna Rancāne is one of the events of Latvia’s centenary program, its creation was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, State Culture Capital Fund, State Culture Capital Fund Latgale program with support of JSC “Latvian State Forests” and Latgale Region Development Agency.
