Karel Mark Chichon was previously the chief conductor and artistic director of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (2009-2012) and the chief conductor of the Graz Symphony Orchestra (2006-2009). Since 2017, he has been the principal conductor and artistic director of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra.
Chichon regularly conducts at the New York Metropolitan Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the German Opera in Berlin, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Rome and Bologna Opera Houses, the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.
