“In chamber music we observe and recognize ourselves, we are in it with our personal feelings. In this music we are left with ourselves and we have no direct contact with others. The songs have no limits to desire and imagination. Singers have endless opportunities to express something very intimate in this music.” emphasizes Elīna Garanča.
The stage partnership between Elīna Garanča and Malcolm Martino is called magical. Following concerts at London’s Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall in New York and elsewhere, this year’s collaboration has culminated in a new program and music album featuring Robert Schuman’s cycle “Women’s Love and Life” and the pearls of Johannes Brahms’ vocal romanticism. “Brahms always touches me. He is true, passionate and sincere,” reveals the world-famous soprano.
According to the organizers of the concert, at the culmination of the program, the voice of Elīna Garanča was revealed in all its brilliance by Sergei Rachmaninoff’s love songs with the words of Tolstoy, Apuhtin, Mamoshina and other Russian poets. Martino, on the other hand, heard two piano solo works – “Dream” from Schuman’s piano cycle “Children’s Scenes” and Brahms Intermezzo op.116 / 4.
“Elīna has one of the greatest voices on the planet. And she doesn’t just touch the appearance or form of the composition. She delves into every composition from the bottom of her heart,” the singer’s stage partner, pianist Malcolm Martino, emphasized again after the concert program.
We remind you that on Tuesday, October 13, this program will be performed in two concerts in Rēzekne, Latgale embassy “Gors”, while at the end of 2020 – December 16 – the artist together with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and conductor Karel Marks Šišons will perform at the Latvian National Opera.
