There were also a lot of well-known people among the guests of the premiere – both people of art and politicians. Among them is also the new President of Latvia Egils Levits. The president had not taken his wife with him, but while watching the premiere, he was sitting next to Sandra Kalniete, a member of the European Parliament.

The movie “The Spy Who’s My Father” is a personal story about what it means to be born into a spy family and to be on the scene of the Cold War. The film tells the story of the translator and cooler Ieva Lešinska-Geibere and the events that took place 40 years ago. In 1978, as a student, Ieva visited the United States with her father Imants Lešinskis, who was working in the USSR diplomatic mission at the UN at the time, decided to flee to the United States and made this offer to her daughter. The family was given new personal identities and offered to start life as other people. In the mid-1980s, after Imants Lešinskis had publicly revealed the facts that illuminate the activities of the KGB in Latvia, he died in unexplained circumstances.
