At the start of the year, the Loire and its tributaries, Cher, Indre or even Vienne, have taken up their winter quarters, swelling the banks with their high water levels. Nothing unusual in this season with heights which remain reasonable but which once again remind passers-by admiring the landscape, the power of river waters.
On the Loire side, according to the Vigicrues website, the highest water levels were reached on Wednesday January 27 with a height of 3.17m at the level of the station placed under the Mirabeau bridge. Since then, the Loire has lost a few centimeters in height (3.10m Thursday at the beginning of the afternoon). Sufficient height to approach the car parks on the banks of the Loire in Tours, but also the tents of the camps set up by homeless people … The royal river should nevertheless continue to drop slightly over the next few days with an estimated average height of 2, 87m on January 30 as forecast.
On the Cher, the Saint-Sauveur bridge station recorded a peak on Tuesday January 26 at 2.21m, before a rapid decline since (1.89m this Thursday January 28 at 2 p.m.).
