PHOTO: An interesting sports complex has grown up in Sosnowiec, Poland

Polish Sosnowiec will have a sports facility that can be envied by several Slovak regional towns. Zaglebiowski park sportowy, as the full name of this ambitious project is, includes a football stadium, a hall for board sports and a winter stadium.

The football stadium will be the new home of the local club from the second highest Polish league, Zaglebie Sosnowiec. Its capacity will be over 11,000 spectators, in the case of concerts and other cultural events, it can be increased to 20,000.

The complex also includes a sports hall for handball, volleyball, basketball and other indoor sports.

The winter stadium will meet International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) standards for interstate events. In the past, Polish hockey players were among the world’s elite, but then there was a decline and they are currently only in the IA division of the World Cup, where they won promotion at last year’s home championship of the IB division in Tychy.

At the turn of April and May, they will fight for advancement among the elite in Nottingham, England, against the selections of Lithuania, the Republic of Korea, Romania, Italy and home Great Britain.

The arena will become the home stand of the Zaglebie Sosnowiec team, which is a participant in the highest Polish hockey league.
