The nature trails of Līgatne are one of the most exciting destinations in Latvia, as they provide an opportunity to look into the movements of Latvian wild animals. Inhabitants of nature trails live in conditions that are as close as possible to natural ones, giving them the opportunity to remain isolated at times.

Back on March 8, 1975, the first scarecrow was allowed into the aviary, so this day is celebrated as the birthday of Līgatne nature trails.

Check out some historic footage from the trail’s early days.
