During the event, the band performed various songs, including previously less heard songs, from their ten studio albums. In the end, of course, the band’s best-known hits were played – “Why I Don’t Have Red Mercedes”, “Day”, “I Don’t Care About Everything”, “Little Fight” and, with the audience standing, also the legendary “Silent Song”.
After the concert, the group members gave autographs in the group’s new 60-song book, which contains not only song notes, lyrics and harmonies, but also the group’s biography and photos. Guntars Račs had to make a special effort, who, giving autographs in his new book of poems, also wrote a word or a wish for everyone.
The new book is a continuation of the first two parts of the book “365”. They summarize the poems that the author created and published every day in 2017 on the special GR365 “Facebook account” and which became the most sought-after books in 2017 and 2018. In the new book, Guntars has published poems written this year from January 1 to July 2. Consequently, the fourth part of the book continues to be published every day this year and will be published in early February next year.
“After I published parts 1 and 2 of 365, my life took a turn for the worse and I visited a library or culture house almost every other day where people wanted to hear my poetry,” says Ratch. After the challenge of 2017, I had decided that I would never get involved in such an “affair” again, because writing a new poem every day, under which I could sign even after many years, was a very serious challenge. But there was a pandemic and time was running out, because all the planned concerts were canceled. And I decided to fill this time usefully by resuming writing one poem a day.
I know that to some of my brothers-in-law it seems comical and amusing, but I have defined it for myself as being in constant shape.
I train constantly, I read a lot more and the quality bar of my own poem rises higher and higher. Others may not notice it, but this time it is enough for me to be aware of it myself. Thanks to everyone who reads and shares my work. I do it all for you, but I get feedback every day, in the form of letters, calls and verbal thanks. ”
During the poetry days in September, it will be possible to meet Guntars at small events, the nearest of which will take place on September 10 in Vaiņode, on September 11 at Degumnieki Folk House, on September 20 at Asare Culture House and on October 1 in Tērvete.
