The Phoenix annual report for 2023 has been completed and sent to members and donors. The small brochure lists the activities of the last year, as well as the financial situation. The statistics pages provide detailed information on the consultation hours, contact, the type of communication with those affected, their distribution by age and gender, and more. The annual report is also available on the website “phönix-tuttlingen.de” and can be sent on request.
The main topic in the 2023 annual report is the creation of protection concepts for prevention purposes, in which Phönix provides advice. The social law reform of June 2021 stipulated that child and youth welfare institutions must submit a violence protection concept. In principle, this is also recommended for many other areas, e.g. schools, sports clubs, churches or companies.
Protection concepts are intended to make facilities “unattractive” for perpetrators by creating rules, appointing contact persons and setting up complaint offices. Training is provided for the selection of staff and for sharpening the observation of inappropriate behavior.
For several years now, Phönix has been supporting institutions and associations through information events and training courses on protection concepts. Sabine Dietrich, a qualified social worker and trauma counselor, has trained a total of 815 participants from 109 institutions on this topic over the last five years. She is also active in the protection concepts working group within the network with the Baden-Württemberg LKSF, the “State Coordination Center for Specialized Advice on Sexualized Violence in Childhood and Adolescence”, and also takes part in corresponding training events herself.
Sabine Dietrich shows the short description for an institutional protection concept, which is presented in the form of a house (see photo).
Phönix has a reason to celebrate this year. The contact point was opened 25 years ago in May 1999, after the association had already been founded in 1997. The anniversary celebration will take place on November 21st in the Catholic parish hall St. Josef in Tuttlingen, to which members and donors are invited.
