It’s NBA free agency day as many of the league’s stars switch jerseys and cities, while others sign brand new deals to stay with their current franchises. Suns star guard Devin Booker, a key cog for the Phoenix roster going to the 2021 NBA Finals, falls into the latter category as he will reportedly receive a four-year extension to remain in the Southwest United States. And it also seems that Booker will play a key role in NBA 2K23.
In one of many tweets sent out Thursday by NBA insider Shams Charania, Charania reported that the Suns and Booker have reportedly reached an agreement on a four-year, $218 million Supermax contract extension. Additionally, the Stadium and The Athletic reporter noted that Booker is also reportedly set to appear on the cover of NBA 2K23.
The Phoenix Suns and All-NBA guard Devin Booker are finalizing a four-year, $214 million supermax contract extension that he will sign as soon as next week, sources say @TheAthletic @Stadium.
Booker will also be the cover athlete for NBA 2K23, according to sources.

2K has not confirmed the report by Charania, which just hours after the NBA 2K Twitter account got its first look at the NBA 2K23 cover and cover athlete. In that tweet, 2K teased that there will be more than one cover star. That’s happened in the past, as the regular cover of 2K22 only featured one player, while the 75th anniversary edition featured three NBA icons: Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kevin Durant.

If Devin Booker does indeed feature on the cover of NBA 2K23, it would be just a year after one of the NBA’s brightest and brightest young players was on the cover of the annual game. For NBA 2K22, Mavericks star guard Luka Doncic was selected to appear on the cover of the game, which was released last September.
With July just around the corner, it’s very likely that 2K will release official information about the cover athlete as well as the release date in a very recent future. 2K typically releases initial information on NBA 2K games this month.
