Phoenix Program Aims to Boost Latino Homeownership with New “HOME” Initiative

PHOENIX – A new proposal seeks to encourage Latinos to own their own home through resources and programs designed for mortgage loans.

In 2022, the housing market in the Phoenix metropolitan area saw a 42.4% year-over-year increase in monthly mortgage payments, according to the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals.

According to Patricia Duarte, a member of Chicanos por la Causa, this program is designed for people who sometimes buy without knowing the type of loan or rate they will pay.

That is why Chicanos por la Causa in collaboration with UnidosUS announced the “HOME” initiative in Phoenix with the hope that 4 million new Latinos will be deserving of their own home.

“This is about generating generational wealth for Latino families,” said Laura Arce of Unidos US.

Duarte added that in case someone does not qualify, Chicanos por la Causa can help them with counseling services or even loans if they are ready to buy.
