Starting position:

NSM Norbert Schläfli AG has more than 35 years of experience in the field of multifunctional printing and coating technologies. Innovative and tailor-made solutions are developed for research and development laboratories. A custom-fit machine housing was ordered for a new printing and coating machine. This machine housing should not only have easy access to the machine and the best functionality, but also a particularly attractive design.

Challenge:

When developing this customer-specific solution for a machine housing, many factors were taken into account. Direct communication between the engineers at NSM AG and Phoenix Mecano was essential for the project to run smoothly and successfully. A particular challenge was the procurement of the individual special components and their ever longer delivery times at the time of the project. In order to be able to guarantee on-time delivery, special parts that were difficult to obtain, such as Plexiglas, gas springs for doors and flaps, aluminum connectors and other small items, had to be organized by Phoenix Mecano “just in time”. Despite all this, the highest demands were placed on quality. The design was also of great importance.

Solution:

The regular and well-coordinated communication between the technical department of NSM Norbert Schläfli AG and the engineering department of Phoenix Mecano was the basis for the successful implementation of the project and ran smoothly. Starting with the customer’s idea, the designers were able to take all technical details and changes into account, so that the entire process was very agile and flexible. After the approval of all technical drawings, the procurement of all components had to start immediately. From the processing and painting of all profiles to the complete assembly, the entire machine housing was assembled in Stein am Rhein. After the complex machine housing had been approved by the customer on site, Phoenix Mecano was finally able to organize transport to the customer.

All process steps – from the idea to engineering and development, the procurement of all components and their processing and finishing to logistics – were manufactured and organized from a single source.
