Philstar.com reports 60 Masbate schools resuming in-person classes

60 schools in Masbate have resumed in-person classes despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The schools have implemented health and safety protocols in accordance with guidelines from the Department of Education and the Department of Health. Classes are being held on a limited schedule to limit the number of students in the classroom at any given time.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Army has dismissed as fake news a report from the New People’s Army (NPA) claiming that four government forces have died in Masbate. The army stated that no such incident has been reported in the area.

One police officer was injured in a bomb blast in Masbate on Monday. The explosion occurred while the officer was conducting a security patrol in the area. The officer has been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

In addition, four residents of Masbate are facing murder charges in relation to NPA raids in the region. The charges stem from incidents in which the NPA allegedly attacked military and police installations.

These events highlight ongoing security concerns in Masbate, where both the NPA and criminal groups operate. The national government has implemented measures to address these issues, including increased troop deployments and law enforcement operations. However, challenges remain in ensuring the safety and security of the local population.
