(Reuters Manila = Yonhap News) On the 31st (local time), the Philippine government announced that it would implement enhanced quarantine measures in preparation for the possibility of the novel coronavirus (Corona 19) infection spreading due to the increase in travelers from China.
An emergency order issued the same day by the Philippines Department of Health and Welfare mandates increased respiratory disease surveillance for travelers arriving from China at all border crossings and mandatory reporting of those showing symptoms.
Governments around the world, including the United States, Britain, France, Italy and Japan are tightening quarantine measures, such as making it mandatory for travelers arriving from China to present a negative COVID-19 test as China has taken measures such as normalizing travel despite the recent surge in COVID-19.
