PARIS, July 9 (Reuters) – The Casino rescue plan drawn up by the tandem of Czech businessman Daniel Kretinsky and Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière provides for the appointment of Philippe Palazzi as managing director of the Saint-Etienne distributor, reports on Sunday Les Echos newspaper.
The daily specifies that Philippe Palazzi, 52, had a career at Metro, where he ended up director of operations, before taking the helm of Lactalis in 2020.
Still according to Les Echos, Philippe Palazzi would rely on the management in place in the major divisions of Casino to revive the activity of the group, heavily indebted.
Daniel Kretinsky could not be reached and Philippe Palazzi did not immediately respond to a message.
In addition to the proposal from the Kretinsky-Lacharrière tandem, valid until Monday, Casino received another offer at the beginning of July aimed at strengthening its equity from a trio of businessmen made up of Xavier Niel, Matthieu Pigasse and Moez-Alexandre Zouari.
Casino management and legal mediators have set July 27 as the deadline for reaching an agreement in principle on the terms of the group’s financial restructuring. (Report Benjamin Mallet and Tassilo Hummel)
