“During my childhood, my father and stepmother ran a wholesale business in maintenance products”, says Geubels in ‘James de musical’. “At the same time, they also organized all kinds of things. For example, there was ‘The Summer Show’ in just about every coastal city in Belgium. Those were really fun times for me. Our event was sponsored by Sunparks, which allowed us to stay in such a park for a whole month for free. I was there between artists such as Sam Gooris and Silvy Melody (the former stage name of singer Silvy De Bie, ed.). I had a big crush on that last one. At one point we went swimming together. Afterwards I cried very hard because I had lost the key to my locker. I didn’t make a good impression then, I’m afraid. (laughs)”
