Freiburg (AP) – Defender Philipp Lienhart is considering saying goodbye to Bundesliga club SC Freiburg. “I feel very comfortable here and I know what I owe to the club. However, I also know that my professional career is limited,” said the Austrian in the “Sport Bild” interview (Wednesday). “That’s why I’m already thinking about whether it’s time to do something else.”
Lienhart’s contract with the Badeners runs until June 30, 2024. Talks are being held, the 26-year-old explained. However, there is no timetable for when a decision must be made. “Everything has to fit for a change. It’s not like I have to leave,” emphasized Lienhart. “The club has developed so much that there are now excellent prospects in addition to the human aspect.” Therefore, an extension in Freiburg is an option, according to the national player.
Lienhart would also be tempted to return to Spain. “If there is an interesting offer, I would worry,” said the defender. His girlfriend, who works in Freiburg, is also a factor in planning for the future. Lienhart moved from Real Madrid to Breisgau in the summer of 2017 – initially on loan.
