Philadelphia prosecutor sues Musk over Trump support committee

“The Philadelphia District Attorney is charged with protecting the public from public nuisances and unfair business practices, including illegal lotteries” and from “interference with the integrity of elections,” reads a statement from the prosecutor.

Last week, the Justice Department sent a letter to Musk’s political action committee (PAC) — a fundraiser to support a candidate — warning him that his $1 million donations could violate federal law. which prohibits paying people to register to vote.

Musk, 53, who also owns the social network X, formerly Twitter, has dedicated his millions, time and considerable influence to backing the Republican presidential candidate since publicly announcing his support in July.

Musk would have donated $118 million through his Trump support committee, at some of whose rallies he has appeared to support him.

His last appearance was on Sunday at Madison Square Garden in New York, where the magnate took a crowd bath in a packed stadium with capacity for 20,000 spectators.

In addition to accompanying Trump in Pennsylvania, he has also organized a series of meetings with voters in this disputed state on his own.
