The United States has known, since Monday, July 3, its 339th mass shooting, according to figures from Gun Violence Archive. In Philadelphia, a man killed four people and injured two others shortly before 9 p.m. Monday. Equipped with a bulletproof vest, he was armed with a semi-automatic rifle and a handgun.
During a press conference, the city police spokesman did not detail the profile of the victims but, according to the American channel NBC, the two injured are two young boys, aged 2 and 13. They were hospitalized and their condition is stable. Other media are reporting that a suspect has been arrested in a neighborhood of the city.
The Democratic mayor of Philadelphia said to himself “horrified” by this shooting before addressing his “prayers to the victims”. “This devastating violence must stop”wrote Jim Kenney in a tweet. The last shooting in the country only dates back to last weekend: an 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were killed in Baltimore at a block party. The shots also injured twenty-eight in this city on the east coast of the United States.
