The Philadelphia 76ers beat the Boston Celtics 115-103 on Tuesday to lead 3-2 in their Eastern Conference semifinal series. NBA.
Now the Sixers can decide the series on Thursday in their own backyard in Game 6 of this best-of-seven series.
Cameroonian Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and James Harden joined forces to defeat the Celtics in this important victory.
Embiid overflowed with 33 points and seven rebounds, Maxey with 30 points and seven sacks and Harden with 17 cards, eight boards and 10 assists.
“I think Joel (Embiid) did a great job shooting when he needed to shoot and passing when he needed to pass.” Sixers coach Doc Rivers said afterwards.
“Our overall composure was good. You know they’re going to make shots, they’re going to score. That team (Boston) is tough and you have to breathe through it. I thought our guys did that.” added.
The Boston Celtics looked to regain control of the conference semifinal playoff series, but it was impossible to stop the Sixers tonight.
The third-seeded Sixers continued their push after evening the series with an overtime win on Sunday.
Second-seeded Boston again allowed nearly 90 points through the first three quarters.
Meanwhile, the Sixers dominated throughout the game to the point that by halftime they led 58-49.
The Sixers led by as many as 21 points in the fourth quarter as home fans booed the Celtics.
It was the third straight 30-point game in the series for Embiid, who included three 3-pointers in his performance.
Star Jayson Tatum led Boston with 36 points, but was only 11 of 27 from the field.
His teammate Jaylen Brown finished with 24 points. The Celtics were 12 of 38 from 3-point range.
The previous two times the Sixers have been in a second-round series that was tied 2-2, a Game 5 loss to the Toronto Raptors in 2019 and a 35-point loss to the Miami Heat last season.
A flurry by the Celtics cut the deficit to 11 points in the fourth quarter, but Philadelphia responded with a 10-2 run to go back up 102-83.
