Connection with Gabriel Magalhaes, understanding with the back four scheme, and performing well in the EPL’s first away game are credits for Saliba.
Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, praised the performance of William Saliba in the debut of the young defender in the English Premier League.
Arsenal opened the English Premier League 2022/23 season with a comfortable victory over Crystal Palace with a score of 2-0 at Selhurst Park, Saturday (6/8) early morning WIB.
The visitors’ winning goal was created by Gabriel Martinelli in the 20th minute and it was created by Marc Guehi’s own goal in the 85th minute.
Saliba is one of four players in the Gunners’ defensive line. Previously, the 21-year-old defender had spent the last three seasons on loan at Saint Etienne, Nice and Marseille.
“Saliba did great!” Arteta told Sky Sports after the competition.
“For his age, he is developing very well.”
“You need the right balance. The physics in this league is something you can’t lose. If that happens, you will be in trouble.”
“Same with Ben [White] have other players at the back who can make the difference.”
As for the second week, Arsenal will host Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium, Saturday (13/6).
