Sylvie Drouet is disgusted. This 66-year-old pharmacist cannot find a buyer, despite a more than adequate turnover. Located in the heart of the commune of Les Hermites, a charming village of 600 inhabitants 37 km north of Tours, the pharmacy is now offered at the price of a symbolic euro, reports The Parisian this Thursday, October 12. “It hurts a lot to reach this point after forty years of activity», deplores Sylvie Drouet to our colleagues. “A pharmacy sold approximately 65% of its turnover. However, ours is 850,000 euros. Calculating what we initially asked for is easy to do…».
It was therefore at the ridiculous price of one euro that the pharmacy was finally put up for sale. Despite the announcement posted on social networks, and a few calls from abroad – “Bangladesh, Mali, North Africa“, lists the pharmacist – the crowds are not unleashed at the doors. Why not sell to foreigners? They “did not have a diploma recognized in France», explains Sylvie Drouet. But thanks to social networks, “we received a few calls from young people», she adds. “We are in contact with interested people. But nothing is done.»

Snowball effect
Because Les Hermites without a pharmacy would not only lose a part of their history, but also a significant gathering place. “The pharmacy has existed since 1947. If we close it, other businesses will close the curtain», predicts Alain Drouet, the mayor but also husband of the pharmacist. However, the town does not lack charming assets.
Crossed by a small river, it is very dynamic, with its school, which has just opened a new class, its micro-crèche, its post office, its supermarket, its café-restaurant, its florist, and even her hairdresser. Residents can also count on a medical center with a speech therapist, nurses, reflexologist and osteopath. In short, a little haven of peace which is just waiting for a buyer for its pharmacy.

This is why Sylvie Drouet chose to offer her beloved pharmacy for almost nothing. “It’s reassuring to have a pharmacyconfirms Sylvie Sage, manager of the café-restaurant. We go there to pick up some drugs but also for simple advice.» Opinion widely shared by the village nurse, Steven Longelin Doualle, who welcomes “the necessary fight» by Sylvie Drouet, whose pharmacy is “the essential link of the medico-social fabric“. Despite her 66 years, the pharmacist assures her: she will wait as long as it takes.
