Caracas.- Tito López, president of the Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry (Cifar) stated that the sector’s inventory is covered for up to three months in medicines intended for the attention of the coronavirus.
In statements for Unión Radio, López indicated that there are many pharmacies that are in rigid sectors due to quarantine, “pharmacies within shopping malls that have not been able to operate or, failing that, have observed drops in sales between 70% and 80 % ”, He assured.
The union member asked the authorities to defer payment of taxes and to give tax incentives to the pharmaceutical industry.
Finally, on behalf of Cifar, he recalled that during the first half of 2019 the sector suffered a drop in production due to the electricity crisis registered in March. However, the numbers showed a recovery when compared to the 2020 records, in the midst of the pandemic.
