In a new case of a fashion model filming inside the archaeological area of ​​the pyramids wearing pharaonic costumes, the Egyptian investigation authorities in Alexandria decided today, Tuesday, to renew the detention of model Salma El-Shimi on charges of photographing and publishing lewd content that contradicts the values ​​and standards of society, and calls for immorality and immorality, 15 days pending. Investigations, and their renewal shall be taken into account within the legal date.

The Economic Court also set next April 18 to pronounce the verdict against the backdrop of publishing immoral videos on social media.

The Egyptian model was previously imprisoned, and then the Egyptian authorities released her, accompanied by the photographer, in December 2020.

“The Public Prosecution released the two on bail of 500 Egyptian pounds (about $32) each,” a judicial official told AFP at the time.

He also added that this conditional release will be pending investigation into their accusation of “filming without a permit in the archaeological area of ​​Saqqara.”

This came after Dr. Mustafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, referred the case to the Public Prosecution Office to investigate the incident and take all necessary legal measures.

It is noteworthy that the model, Salma El-Shimi, photographed in the archaeological area of ​​the pyramids, wearing clothes of a pharaonic nature, and took several photos and videos that she published on her page on the communication platforms more than a year ago.

The pictures sparked widespread anger, as the pioneers of the communication sites demanded an investigation into the incident, which they considered offensive to the ancient Egyptian civilization and the ancient queens of Egypt.
