PhänomexX student laboratory “The sound makes the music”:

Interactive special exhibition in the rock’n’pop museum Gronau is part of the holiday program until the end of the summer holidays

Final spurt for the special holiday program in the rock’n’pop museum in Gronau: Every Tuesday and Friday between 11 a.m. and 12.30 p.m., children from eight years of age can experience the new special exhibition “The sound makes the music” until the end of the summer holidays. Top-class experiments on the subject of sound and noise – that’s what the PhänomexX student laboratory promises, which the Borken district education office has developed in cooperation with the rock’n’pop museum.

How well can you hear? Why do I hear sounds at different volumes? How do sound waves move and how are they generated? “PhänomexX is an extracurricular school laboratory that invites all students to explore topics such as the fascinating world of sound and noise for themselves,” explains Sandra Renzel, the employee of the district’s education office responsible for the project. Through practical experiments and exciting stations, children are encouraged to be curious, ask questions and look for answers. This interactive exhibition enables girls and boys from primary and secondary schools to explore the basics of acoustics and develop their creative skills. “The exhibition has been very well received and we look forward to many more young explorers coming by,” says Britta Drewitz from the rock’n’pop museum, encouraging visitors to visit.

Visiting the exhibition is free of charge and is aimed at children aged eight and over. Registration is possible by email at [email protected] or by phone at 02562/81480.

Important in this context: After the holiday program, the student laboratory will be used by the education office as an extracurricular learning location. Through a variety of references to the applicable guidelines and curricula in the various subjects, the project can be optimally integrated into school lessons – also across subjects and interdisciplinary. For this purpose, the Borken education office is offering a mandatory workshop date for all interested teachers on August 27, 2024 in the rock’n’pop museum.
