Federation of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) Appreciate the apology from the suspect in the blasphemy case Yahya Waloni. PGI asked that the case be a lesson for Yahya Waloni and all religious leaders.
“Yes, if that’s the case, we forgive. And hopefully it will be a lesson for Yahya Waloni himself and all of us not to do things that vilify religion or other beliefs,” said PGI Public Relations Officer Philip Situmorang to reporters, Monday (27/27/2020). 9/2021).
Philips reminded that Indonesia is a plural nation. He hopes that all people and religious leaders will tolerate each other and not hurt one another’s religions.
“As a religious figure, you should convey things that are appropriate and not offend or hurt the beliefs of others,” he said.
“This nation is a plural nation, which is different, but we have great power if those who are different can work together for the progress of the nation,” continued Philips.
Previously, Yahya Waloni, apologized to the Christians. Yahya Waloni admitted that he was sorry because he felt that what he did violated the ethics of preaching.
Initially, Yahya Waloni said that he had withdrawn his power of attorney to his lawyer and revoked his pretrial lawsuit. Then Yahya Waloni gave his statement in a pretrial hearing held at the South Jakarta District Court, Jl Ampera Raya, South Jakarta, Monday (27/9/2021).
“There is something I want to say that my problem is not a serious problem, my problem is a matter of ethics, politeness and morality. I think related to what we have gone through regarding the implementation law rather than the pretrial hearing it is impossible for me to do and it has been ratified ,” said Yahya.
