PGA: Cantlay dominant, Hadwin in the top 10

American Patrick Cantlay scored a fabulous 60 in the third round of Saturday’s Shriners Children’s Open in Las Vegas, which allowed him to take the reins of the competition with South Korean Tom Kim.

Cantlay’s recipe for success to subtract 11 shots from par: score 11 birdies and never do it on the greens of TPC Summerlin. After getting the same 67 (-4) rounds that gave him eighth place, the 30-year-old moved up to the top of the pack.

He will have to watch out for Kim (62), who also avoided the bogeys on Saturday. Both golfers have a three-time priority over their closest direct pursuers to the final round.

Matthew NeSmith (63) and Mito Pereira (67) tied for third place. Recall that the latter was at the top of the standings after two rounds.

Canadian Adam Hadwin may need to work more miracles to claim a second career title, but his excellent 65 card moved him from ninth to seventh. He has a cumulative score of -14.

The only other two maple leaf representatives still in contention, Taylor Pendrith (66) and Adam Svensson (67), all jumped to 32.And tied position, at -9.

Michael Gligic and Nick Taylor had to pack their bags on Friday, unable to escape the ax.

Shadoff one round from victory

On the LPGA side, Jodi Ewart Shadoff continued his great work while maintaining his four-stroke lead after three rounds at the Mediheal Championship in Somis, California.

The Englishman, in search of the first title on the track, is on a real mission. He hit a second straight card of 69 hits (-3) to go up to -14. On Saturday he had three birds and no bogeymen.

Some golfers like the American Andrea Lee and the French Céline Boutier recovered their feathers by playing 66 (-6) to get close to third place, five strokes behind the leader.

South African Paula Reto remained in second place after showing the same score as Shadoff. Shows a cumulative of 206 after 54 holes.

Canadian Alena Sharp, the only representative of her country still in the running, is somehow holding on to her having had her worst round. Her’s card of 77 (+5) and her cumulative of 220 (+4) place her at 72And and penultimate ring.
