After making his boxing debut against Tyson Fury, Francis Ngannou could face another monster of the ring in Deontay Wilder. But this time, it could take place on his favorite hunting ground, the MMA octagon. On this subject, the Cameroonian did not spare his potential opponent…
For the moment, it is difficult to know who Francis Ngannou’s next opponent in MMA will be. The PFL boss himself admitted, there is currently no heavyweight fighter in the league who could compete with him. He could therefore continue in English boxing in the meantime… or take on Deontay Wilder in the cage, the star of the ring having decided to take up MMA in the coming months.
Francis Ngannou dirtyly humiliates Deontay Wilder
This would be a clash between what are perhaps the two most powerful punchers on the planet, capable of taking down anyone with a single strike. Guest of the show Club Shay Shay, the Cameroonian returned to the subject by explaining that the poster could take place in exceptional conditions. And his explanation is really, really not to highlight the “Bronze Bomber”:
Francis Ngannou : Let’s imagine he faces someone other than me. If I look at the profile of the fighters, I’m betting on Deontay (for a next fight). Even as a boxer, now that he’s really planning on doing MMA and he’s training, I’ll bet on him. Because all it takes is one punch to violently injure someone. But it could also be a mixed rules fight.
We thought about mixed rules. Because honestly, it’s going to be too hard for him if it’s not a mixed rules fight. We can’t do that to him. (…) I have my territory (in MMA) where they can’t bother me. If they come, they’ll need something, like a favor, like, “I’ll give you this, we’ll get kicked.” I have to give him something. But when we get in the ring, they don’t give me anything and I always cause them trouble.
Ngannou makes it clear, Wilder would have absolutely no chance against him if he were to venture into the octagon, which is the Predator’s favorite hunting ground. He is even so confident that he believes that special rules would be necessary for the fight to have any interest. A damn humiliating suggestion… For his part, the American was keen to respond soberly:
I know for a fact that whether it’s boxing or MMA, the rules are what they are. There are rules in boxing, there are rules in MMA. But when you mix the two, you have to make up your own rules and it can get frustrating or confusing. But it can also be something new, and I’m all for change. I would have to hear it, both parties would have to hear it and we’ll see from there.
Whether with mixed rules or in classic combat, a clash between Francis Ngannou and Deontay Wilder would certainly be worth a look. Be careful, however, for the Cameroonian, who adopts a speech similar to that used by Tyson Fury against him… and we saw what this subsequently led to for the Briton.
