Pfizer unveils plan ‘for a healthier world’

Pharmaceutical company Pfizer will make all of its patented drugs available at a non-profit price to 45 of the world’s poorest countries.

Pfizer’s plan includes 23 proprietary drugs and vaccines to treat infectious diseases, certain types of cancer and rare and inflammatory diseases. As well as Paxlovid, treatment for Covid and Ibrance to treat breast cancer, Xeljanz treatment for pneumonia and Xalkori and Inlyta cancer treatments were added to the list.

According to information from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, these treatments, and patent medicines in general, would take between 4 and 7 years to reach the poorest countries in the world.

The Covid-19 vaccine from the Comirnaty laboratory and BioNtech SE was also included in the list.

The executive president of the company, Albert Bourla, declared that from this moment, the antiviral drug Paxlovid is available and if the countries request it, they can obtain it immediately.

New releases from the lab will also be included in this list for the 45 poorest countries in the world. Most of these countries are in Africa and much of Southeast Asia.
