Pfizer Begins Delivering Vaccine Data for Children in Canada

Vaccinations that are intensively carried out in all parts of the world currently do not target all ages. Large pharmaceutical companies as vaccine providers Covid-19 continue to develop their vaccine for use by all ages. Currently, in general, children cannot get the vaccine like other adults.

Of course this is because the impact of the vaccine itself is different so that further development is needed. Pfizer is currently working on making the vaccine available to children at which point they have started sending data on the child vaccine they are developing to Canadian authorities.

Launch page cbc.ca (2/10/21), Pfizer and its partner BioNTech have submitted preliminary data from their trial for COVID-19 injections for children to Health Canada earlier than expected, the department confirmed on Saturday.

Formal submission of a vaccine authorization application for children is expected in mid-October, according to an email from Health Canada.

Authorizing the vaccine for children between the ages of five and 11 would be a huge step forward. There are currently no COVID-19 vaccines allowed for children under 12 in Canada.

Earlier this week, Pfizer submitted its study data for vaccines for children to the US Food and Drug Administration, with a formal request for emergency use authorization there also expected in the coming weeks.

Pfizer’s vaccine, which has been approved in adolescents ages 12 to 15 and is fully approved for ages 16 and over in the US, has been shown to induce a strong immune response in the target age group in a clinical trial of 2,268 participants, the company said on Sept. 20.

For the children between the ages of five and 11 in the trial, the company used a dose of one-third of the amount given to adults today.
