Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will cost the European Union more in the future

Pharmaceutical giants have renegotiated vaccine supply contracts with the EU, citing inflation, supply chain congestion and high demand for vaccines as reasons for raising prices. A similar rise in prices is expected in other markets.

According to the Financial Times, the price of the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine is now € 19.50, up from € 15.50 previously, while the price of the Modern vaccine is now € 21.49.

Vaccine supply contracts were amended after the third phase of clinical trials showed that the vaccines of both companies were more effective than their competitors.

Studies have shown that Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 is 95% effective and Moderna is 94.1% effective.
