So far there has been no direct explanation from the two companies regarding the reason for the increase in the price of their blended vaccine. Moderna chose not to comment. Pfizer declined to comment, citing confidentiality reasons.
“Beyond the edited contract published by the European Commission, the content remains confidential, so we will not comment,” the company said in a statement.
Meanwhile, there has been no response from the European Commission. The commission only stated that at this time the European Union was still focused on pursuing a vaccine target of reaching 70 percent of the adult population.
The target, this can be pursued before the end of the summer. On the other hand, the European Commission is also targeting the number of vaccines circulating in the region to reach 1 billion doses by the end of September 2021 from a number of manufacturers.
