Lous Machous, a festive cultural association, which has existed since 1979, perpetuates the traditions of Pézenas. Fanny Garcia, the president, says: “We are still here, the carnival is starting to rise!”
Health crisis obliges, the program of this year was obviously upset. After the white evening offered this Friday, February 12 at 8 p.m. on Facebook, it’s this Saturday 13 February, still at 8 p.m. and online on the social network will be broadcast a free virtual show.
Then will come, Sunday February 14 at 8 p.m., the evening animated panels. The actors of the show which will not be live transmitted the videos of their interventions to the office which has been struggling for several days to ensure the assembly.
The poster for this event was created by Thibault Nougaret, son of Fanny and member of the board which now consists of five young people or even very young – the next generation in a way – and five more “old”.
Despite all these hazards, Fanny maintains a morale of steel. All the actors, mobilized from home, very motivated, put all their heart in the development of this show: sketch, story, dance. Just to maintain the link, to say loud and clear: “We are still here. Carnival will live!”
Sale of masks on the market
Members were not asked to pay for their membership card. Too many people are in trouble, no certainty about what is to come. “We live on our reserves which are gradually dwindling, explains Fanny. Also, we hope to be able to put on sale “Lous Machous” masks on the market in the coming days. For now, only the actors of the show will be able to benefit from it. We are running out of time… “
A little anecdote: in previous years, for the white evening which took place at the people’s hall, we could read on posters, on all the walls: “Masks prohibited to ensure the safety of all”. Irony of life! Today, we should display: “Wearing a mask compulsory” !”
Fanny remains positive despite everything: “We hope to meet again very soon in order to share carnival moments that are so dear to our hearts. In the meantime, we are offering people who wish to go down to the Saturday market in a panel (in compliance with health rules) in order to make our hearts vibrate! “
