The Stellantis Group expects to gradually only offer electric cars in Europe. In addition to Alfa Romeo, DS, Fiat or Opel, Peugeot is also preparing something like this.

Peugeot is another carmaker that is officially planning its purely electric future. Brand CEO Linda Jackson has announced that all Peugeot models in Europe will be electric by the end of this decade.
“As we move to the new platforms (Stellantis), STLA Small, STLA Medium and STLA Large, by 2030 all our models in Europe will be electric,” said Jackson. At the same time, however, he reckons that electromobility will not develop so fast elsewhere in the world.
“But I still have to make sure that I continue to offer internal combustion engines to my non-European customers,” Jackson said. Non-European markets are key for Peugeot, for example the brand has developed for South America and North Africa pick-up Landtrek. This 5.3-meter-long machine with a load capacity of up to 1.2 tons was introduced last year with a supercharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder petrol engine and a nineteen-diesel diesel.
At the same time, Peugeot’s strategy responds to the European Union’s future plans. It is anticipated that from 2035 onwards, only zero-emission cars could be offered in the EU.
This is not a big surprise. Peugeot is gradually expanding its range of electric cars. The new 308 will also offer an electric versionwhile the new generations 208 and 2008 are already saying that they will only be offered with an electric drive.
Peugeot is not the first brand of the Stellantis Group to anticipate the transition to purely electric models. Premium DS intends to present exclusively electric cars from 2024while Alfa Romeo wants to present exclusively electric cars in Europe from 2027. To Fiat plans to reduce its supply of electric vehicles by the end of this decadewhile Opel plans to do the same by 2028.
It will be technically possible. In the future, Stellantis will move to four platforms (STLA Small, STLA Medium, STLA Large and STLA Frame), which provide for the installation of electric drive. They will be designed for small, medium and large cars, or cars with a frame structure. At the same time, however, they still allow the installation of an internal combustion engine, for markets where electromobility is not progressing so fast.
