Peugeot, the trunk remains an asset – Auto World

By varying the power supply, the space does not change: Peugeot is trying to stick to a mathematical formula in order to continue to offer spacious models in terms of load. Regardless of whether the engine is thermal (petrol or diesel) or electrified (100% electric or rechargeable hybrid), the new 208, 2008, 508 and 3008 they have the same overall trunk volume, but also the same habitability, without the drums are a bulk factor.

In the 208, for example, the trunk with rear seats in position could accommodate up to about eight cabin bags; in the model with the largest trunk, that of the 508 SW, with the rear seats folded down, the number of suitcases would increase to forty-four. An extremely important feature that unites all the models mentioned above is that the volume of their respective trunks it does not vary according to the chosen engine, so the adoption of batteries does not affect the load capacity of these cars.

Being able to count on a similar luggage compartment between the versions with thermal motorization and those with electrified motorization (calculated above the shelf in the highest position and below the parcel shelf) it is a great advantage, according to the philosophy of the French house. In particular, the new 208 and e-208 have a boot capacity that reaches 311 liters: considering that a cabin suitcase has a capacity between 40 and 48 liters, the total number of the same that can be contained in a boot of this model is about 7. If you fold the rear seats down, this capacity goes up to about 10 suitcases.

The suv 2008 or its corresponding 100% electric version e-2008 have a basic capacity of up to 405 liters, that is to say about 9 or 10 suitcases, while with the rear seats folded down the number rises to about 36. On the SUV 3008 or on the corresponding plug-in hybrid version the trunk has a volume of 395 liters, but if the rear seats are ‘closed’, the volume increases to almost 1.5 cubic meters, that is about 37 suitcases.

For the flagships 508 fastback and SW, both in thermal and plug-in hybrid versions, have the same capacity, equal to 487 liters for the fastback and 530 for the SW. With the seats folded down, this value increases to 1537 liters for the first and 1780 liters for the second, corresponding respectively to approximately 38 and 44 suitcases.
